I'm always amazed at the number of plant lovers that I encounter who are afraid of or creeped out by carnivorous plants. I personally find euphorbia to be much more creepy, drawn as I am to them! Maybe it's because the sap is not only poisonous, but caustic as well? Maybe it's because I'm continually discovering that more and more plants I'm familiar with (and even own) are members of this evil family?
I certainly don't look forward to handling one of these plants if I think it's going to be weeping this toxic stuff. A couple of months ago we had some violent storms here and my huge pencil plant blew over. I got out the gloves before I would pick that sucker up. The other day while plant shopping I picked up a green coral. It was leaking like a sieve but was too cool to pass up.
I guess some of us are just drawn to "dangerous" plants; the poisonous, the sharp and pokey, the hungry..... I know that I'm more inclined to want a plant when I find out that it's a euphorbia!
